My hard work was rewarded when the usual cries of 'CACK' (why they call cake cack I've no idea, but it's kind of caught on!) were joined by even more excited cries of 'PAT, MUMMY! JESS!' Hooray, success, they recognised them! Do you?!

Postman Pat, Postman Pat, Postman Pat and his black and white cat!
My sons were two yesterday, so for this week's Handmade Monday, I thought I'd share their birthday cake with you. They are more than a little obsessed with everyone's favourite postman at the moment, so the subject matter wasn't even up for discussion. I made it as easy for myself as I could and did Pat and Jess on a break, not because I couldn't be bothered, but because for various reasons I didn't start it until gone 10.00 on Saturday night! Feeling rather pleased with my efforts, I crawled into bed well after midnight, only to wake in the night in a panic because I hadn't made any glasses for Pat! Luckily that was easily remedied yesterday morning.

My other cake project this week was a simple 40th birthday cake. Pink and glittery, fabulous!

Well, as cacks go, it's a pretty fabulous one! I love the image of Pat with his feet in the stream, and yes, they are immediately recognisable!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the 40th birthday one went down very well too.
Thanks for taking part in Handmade Monday x
Love the Pat cake, I've done cakes on my blog too this week but painted ones not eddible ones, yours look yummy, and belated birthday wishes to your boys.

ReplyDeleteFantastic... who ate Jess? What a rare gift you have, yummy, yummy, yummy!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone :-) Loads more orders over the next few weeks including a dinosaur and a mermaid! Jess didn't get eaten, although big twin pulled his head off! Probably a good job, think they had a bit of a sugar overload yesterday. Bedtime started at 7 and ended at gone midnight, then they got up at 5 :-(
ReplyDeleteWow, that's awesome. I would drag out some photos (if I had any) of my kids cakes thru the years but they would be awfully embarrassing by comparison. Yours are so excellent. :)
ReplyDeletePostman Pat cake is brilliant. Like him paddling his feet and the cat ... no doubt looking for fish!
ReplyDeletePostman Pat! Just love the cack. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteLove the cake and the idea of Pat taking a break. All postmen are called Pat by my 2 year old.
ReplyDeleteLove the cake it would seem a shame to eat it after all the hard work you put in. Pat and Jess are easily recognisable I can see why your boys loved it.
ReplyDeleteThe 'water' looks fab and so realistic. Well done you.
The Postman Pat Cake is amazing! Did you know that he his based on a real postman from a little village near Kendal in the Lake District (near where my family lives) everytime I see the cartoon it reminds me of home :) Jo
